I made this for Adam when we first started dating about 8 years ago; back when I had a flair for the melodramatic and an obsession with Sarah McLachlan.
The members of my high school graduating class are using Facebook to plan our 10-year class reunion.
I just saw one of my middle school bullies (oh, there were just so many) post “This should be fun!!!” and I’m trying so hard to not reply with “Yeah, kinda like that time you yanked my ponytail so hard you almost broke my neck. Woooooooo C/O 2000!!!!”
Everyone always says they want to lose some weight before their reunion; I just want to lose some of this baggage.
This is the song my Lyrical dance class is doing for recital.
We started learning our dance last week and as soon as our instructor turned on the music, I thought I was going to die. “This song has my heart,” I said melodramatically to my dance buddy Rachel. She laughed, probably thinking that I was being sarcastic, and asked “You like this song?”
“I love it. Somewhere, a 12 year old Marcela just pissed her pants with excitement.”
The problem with performing to a song that you love, is that you eventually grow to hate it because you have to listen to it—often times small parts of it—over and over and over again. But I have a good feeling about my love for this song; if it was able to survive middle school, it can survive recital.
It’s getting to be that time of year where I expect new episodes of The L Word
What’s happening with The Planet regulars? Have Bette and Tina split, made up, split, and made up again…again? Did Shane try and get Molly back? Are Tasha and Alice still together or did Dana return from the dead and now she and Alice can role play for the rest of their lives. Will Kit ever get to say anything better than “Baby girl”? I just want to know!
I’m actually going to be in Staten Island, NY when Bo Burnham does his show at the Highline Ballroom in NYC this Friday night. Kinda makes burn-the-house-down mad knowing that I’ll be so close yet so far away.
