Mark your calendars for April 14th. This will be my 4th BarCamp and my 1st time presenting.

Sometimes, I feel pretty jaded about technology. My iPhone has a better computer than the one that first sent men into space. Cool story, bro.

But my co-worker sent me this link today, and I was just blown away.

GiveCamp.Orlando - Home

GiveCamp.Orlando - Home:
I’m only just now finding out about this event (via Caike from the Orlando Coding Dojo). But I’m glad they’re still accepting volunteers.

DJ marGEEKa on the ones and zeroes

I’ve switched to a “standing desk” setup at work.
The user connects to the truck’s wi-fi connection on their touch-enabled smart phone (we tested with iPhones and Androids). Then, they can log in as a male or female diver and swim around the tank full of sharks, turtles, penguins, sardines, and jellyfish. When the user encounters one of the creatures, the diver and creature react and the user wins a “badge.” At the end of the interaction, the user can then post an image of the badges they won on Facebook.

Wild Card - The Daily WTF

Wild Card - The Daily WTF:
Just reading this gave me a rush of adrenaline.

Researcher reveals how “Computer Geeks” replaced “Computer Girls” | Gender News

Researcher reveals how “Computer Geeks” replaced “Computer Girls” | Gender News:
An interesting read about the history of females in computer programming.

"Not everyone understands the purpose or appreciates the training to chop perfectly good lumber into..."

“Not everyone understands the purpose or appreciates the training to chop perfectly good lumber into pieces with their hands and feet.
Challenge accepted!

Seriously, though: what kind of racket is Adobe running that they’re trying to sway developers away from using such a powerful feature?

Take your URLLoader class and shove it.

(via xkcd: Marie Curie)
